In the 17th century King Christian IV founded this castle as a royal residence. Built in the Renaissance style, the castle is inside the city, and it is open to the public. Tourists have to visit on sunny days because there is no electricity in the upper building. It is only the lowest level which houses the Royal Danish Crown Jewels that is wired for electrical power. The Jewels can be seen in another album.King Christian IV not only lived in this castle, sadly, he died there. But his bedroom was not open to the public.
Two things in this castle made it worthwhile for me: an entire royal bathroom, and some large items made of amber.
